The search for a black panther allegedly seen near Apatin lasted a long time last fall and was in the end called off, while it remains unknown to this day whether it was there at all.

However, stories are spreading in the area around Bogatic for the third day now that a big black cat which looks like a panther has been seen in the villages of Glogovac and Crna Bara, which is upsetting the locals.

Telegraf.rs has learned that police in Bogatic received several reprorts from citizens living in these places.

"First, the day before yesterday, a man from Glogovac reported that while he was training on a football pitch, he was disturbed and scared by the growling coming from the bushes, and then photos appeared of the animal allegedly seen near a gas station in the center of the village. Yesterday, a man from Crna Bara reported to the police that he saw dogs chasing a large black animal in a field," Telegraf.rs has learned.

Police have stepped up patrolling in these places, and hunters monitor the hunting grounds.

"There is suspicion that minors edited the photos they shared on social networks to make a joke. However, other reports have come from serious older people. Still, it is not yet known for sure which animal they actually saw and whether the residents of this area are in any danger," our source said.
