Serbia finally opening chapter 1: Free movement of goods, one of the basic EU postulates
After eight years, Serbia is officially opening chapter 1 with the European Union, which concerns the free movement of goods.
"Thanks to Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and all members of the Government, Minister for European Integration Tanja Miscevic, as well as all her colleagues who participated in the negotiations for the opening of Chapter 1 — Free movement of goods," Rade Basta said on this occasion.
Basta will also be part of the negotiating group.
Chapter 1 - Free movement of goods
The freedom of movement of goods, along with the freedom of movement of people, services and capital, represents one of the basic freedoms on which the European Union is based, since the single and common internal market of the member states is the very core of European integration.
The internal market of the EU is a single customs area without internal borders, in which, among other things, the free movement of goods is ensured. This freedom represents the removal of all obstacles in the field of trade that prevent the placing of products originating from other EU member states on national markets, as well as the adoption of the same customs tariff towards third countries.
