Serbs turn Melbourne into Belgrade: Big party after Novak's victory, people sing, "Kosovo is Serbia"
The best Serbian tennis player, Novak Djokovic, today reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open, since he managed to defeat Alex de Minaur in three sets (6-2, 6-1, 6-2) in about two hours, in a match played in Rod Laver Arena.
Nole kept his pace from start to finish, didn't let up at any moment, so the Australian felt on his own skin all the power of the incredible Serb who will encounter Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals.
All of this was the reason for our fans to celebrate, and we learned from our reporter at the scene that the Serbs are most numerous in Melbourne Park, right after the Australians.
The fans started singing on the steps of Rod Laver Arena, and many Serbs draped in national flags sang a few songs dedicated to Djokovic as well.
They chanted, "Nole take another title," after which the crowd switched to patriotic songs, so many thundered, "Kosovo is Serbia" - and the rest picked it up and continued to shout in unison.
