Vucic: It's surreal for KFOR members from Albania to participate in harassment of Serb family in Velika Hoca
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic said on Thursday after the meeting of the Government of Serbia, that a decision was made to deliver a request to KFOR in electronic form today, and tomorrow at the administrative checkpoint for the return of Serbia's military and police personnel, up to 1,000 members, in line with UN Security Council Resolution 1244.
He added that the government made the decision unanimously.
"This is important for the protection of our population, and it would dramatically reduce tensions at Jarinje and Brnjak. We don't think they will accept it, but it is important to have it in writing that we tried, (otherwise) one day when the balance of power in Kosovo and Metohija changes, it would be, "So why didn't you ever ask."
"I don't think there is a possibility that they will accept our request," Vucic believes. "They didn't even want to hear it because it's a poke in the eye for those who think they have the right to decide about us without us."
"I want to tell the people in Serbia, I brought to all the interlocutors... This is paper number 1 - the UN Charter. This is paper No. 2 - Resolution 1244. Paper No. 3 - Military Technical Agreement. Paper No. 4 - Brussels Agreement. Paper No. 5 - Washington Agreement. Paper No. 6 - Thessaloniki Declaration. We are also preparing paper No. 7.
When I asked representatives of the international community to point to one agreement they will respect I got a concrete answer - none. 'We respect only what suits us'.
In one of the articles of the French-German proposal, it is said that Serbia would not oppose Kosovo's membership in any international organization," said Vucic.
"Today (Thursday) they received Kosovo's request to join the EU. And some of our friends in Europe reacted in a fair manner. I want to thank the Cypriot president, the Spaniards, the Hungarians, others who don't recognize (Kosovo) and everyone who helped us.
It's no good waiting for justice, we have to be focused on our goals. The Serbs demand that Adzic and Pantic (arrested by Pristina) be released. I know, via some other ways, where Dejan Pantic is. I know he is alive," said Vucic.
Asked if he is sure that he is sending the request for the return of the Serbian forces to the right address, Vucic replied that he is, that this is according to Resolution 1244.
"In the second instance, if we decide to do so, we can go to the (UN) Security Council. The KFOR commander is under obligation to make a positive decision, but of course he will make a negative one.
For me, it was surreal to see the Albanian contingent in KFOR participate in the harassment of a Serb family in Velika Hoca," added Vucic.
"America will not change its attitude towards Kosovo, but America is more willing to hear us than Europe. Maybe the Americans fundamentally understand the situation better, they understand well what problems we have," said Vucic.
"We have 4 billion and 95 million direct foreign investments, which is a record. That is the essence, because we have to live.
Membership of so-called Kosovo in the UN is out of the question, and we can talk about everything else. First, let them form ZSO (Community of Serb Municipalities), and then let's start talking about other things. I don't believe they will ever form it. They will look for a way to blame the Serbs and carry out a false flag operation, like with this fabricated 'shock bomb', which is an ordinary pyrotechnic device."
Vucic previously said that Pristina officially violated the Washington Agreement by applying for EU membership, and that Belgrade's response will be known after the Government meets on Thursday evening.
When asked if there is progress regarding the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, Vucic said that he spoke with EU and US representatives the day before and that there are some ideas.
"We'll see whether we will succeed. The situation is complicated, but we will do our best to preserve peace and stability," said Vucic.
He stressed that what some EU countries are doing is a violation of Article 49 of the EU Treaty, because the condition for applying for EU membership is to be a European state.
"I don't know what criteria is used to determine whether something is a state or not. Whether it is that what one, even the biggest member of the EU thinks so, or that they all think so, or if membership in the UN determines it. We're accustomed to it all. We will have to fight as much as possible and protect our state and national interests," concluded Vucic.
