Serbian Government decides to request return of Serbian forces to Kosovo and Metohija
President Aleksandar Vucic attended the government session on Thursday evening, to which he was invited by PM Ana Brnabic
The Serbian Government met in the Palace of Serbia last night and decided to adopt a request, to be sent to KFOR, for the return of the Serbian Army and police to Kosovo and Metohija in accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244.
President Vucic attended the session at the invitation of Prime Minister Ana Brnabic.
Earlier in the day, the prime minister of Pristina's provisional institutions, Albin Kurti, submitted so-called Kosovo's request for membership in the EU.
Also earlier in the day on Thursday, President Vucic told journalists, during a tour of the Serbian-Hungarian border with his Hungarian counterpart Katalin Novak, that by submitting the application for EU membership, Pristina would officially violate the Washington Agreement, and that Belgrade's response would be known later in the day, after the government meets.
"Today they (Pristina) are officially violating the Washington Agreement, and we will respond to all that tonight after the government session to which I have been invited, and also regarding our demands related to UN Resolution 1244, but also to the withdrawal of recognition (of Kosovo) by many countries. You will get a precise response," said Vucic.
President Vucic previously announced that the text of the request to KFOR to ensure the deployment of the Serbian Army and police in Kosovo and Metohija according to UNSC Resolution 1244 was agreed upon. Vucic said that after the government session, KFOR would receive that request.
