"They're keeping a man with heart condition in custody without medication or right to call his family, lawyer"
The 30-day detention of Dejan Pantic represents continued torment at the hands of, and arrogance of Albin Kurti, who keeps an innocent man in jail only because he has a Serb name and last name, said the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic.
As he pointed out in a statement, Pantic was arrested and charged with terrorism only because he lives in a multi-ethnic settlement, and if there was any evidence against him, Pristina would not be hiding it for three days.
This shows enough that there is not a single piece of evidence against Pantic, instead he is the target of Albin Kurti who only wants to criminalize Serbs, said Petkovic.
"How is it that Europe is silent about the fact that in the 21st century, a man with a heart condition is being held in custody without medication or therapy, without the right to call his family or his lawyer? What kind of democracy and rule of law is that? Where are human rights fighters when a Serb is imprisoned and his basic human rights violated?," Petkovic asked.
He added that yesterday's decision regarding the detention is the most eloquent proof of how right the Serbs are to peacefully and in a dignified way fight for their basic rights, because neither Pristina nor many western centers, who turn a blind eye to the suffering of Serbs, are interested in that suffering.
