Shooting near Kanjiza: Bloody showdown between migrants and their smugglers, police make arrests, launch drone

Residents of Horgos, a village near Kanjiza, reported on Thursday evening that they heard gunshots in the village around 10 pm.

Immediately after receiving a report that shots from automatic weapons could be heard in the area of Horgos, a MUP group started a detailed inspection of the terrain and facilities in the wider area.

Six migrants were found at the scene, one of whom, aged around 20, had two gunshot wounds to the chest.

Also, the arrest of several persons connected with last night's shooting and illegal smuggling of migrants is in progress. Drones and all other tools are being used in a bid to find both groups of people who shot at each other last night.

None of the injured are citizens of Serbia, while people living in the area of Horgos were not in danger at any point.
