We saved KM license plates: Albanians have accepted everything they have been rejecting in previous days
Belgrade and Pristina have reached an agreement last evening to avoid further escalations in connection with the re-registration of vehicles, announced Josep Borrell.
The main benefits of the agreement in Brussels: On Wednesday evening, the Albanians accepted everything that they had been rejected in the previous days and that they did not even want to hear about, according to the Office for Kosovo and Metohija.
A sentence in the EU announcement, which talks about the fulfillment of all previous agreements from the dialogue, represents great success for Serbia and without any doubt, fulfilling those agreements comes before any further talks on the normalization of relations.
The KM plates have been kept and they will remain in use in the north of Kosovo and Metohija until the final agreement. In recent years, only ten new KM plates have been issued, so this measure does not affect our people in practice.
The Serbs in Kosovo will continue to drive their cars with KM plates without any problems.
We have a deal!Very pleased to announce that Chief Negotiators of #Kosovo & #Serbia under EU-facilitation have agreed on measures to avoid further escalation and to fully concentrate on the proposal on normalisation of their relations.— Josep Borrell Fontelles (@JosepBorrellF) November 23, 2022
"Serbia will stop issuing license plates with (so-called) Kosovo cities' denominations and (so-called) Kosovo will cease further actions related to re-registration of vehicles," EU's Borrell wrote on Twitter and noted that in the coming days he will invite both parties to talks on the next steps.
The agreement is also an indicator that the US wanted to calm tensions and worked in that direction.
