In the cities and towns built along the rivers, from spring to late fall, all the events take place precisely along those banks.

This is also the case in Novi Becej, a town in the northern part of Serbia, known for Araca, Biserno Ostrvo (Pearl Island) and Glavas's House, and above all for the famous Tisa Quay and the natural phenomenon of the "blossoming" of the river that occurs in mid-June.

The Tisa has always been of special importance for those living in Novi Becej. It changed its name as many as five times - from the Turkish Becej, through Francisdorf, Vranjevo and Volosinovo to Novi Becej, and the locals had to pay attention to the mood of the river in order not to be left homeless overnight.

Ever since the longest tributary of the Danube in Serbia was tamed, the inhabitants of Novi Becej use the beautifully maintained banks of the Tisa River for gatherings and tourism promotion of the town even after the Velikogospojinski Dani event, the brand of this region, is over.

After the traditional festival of fall flowers, Novi Becej hosts Wine Meetings and the Manic event which brings together fish and pork lovers.

Namely, every year in December, winter fishing is organized on the Tisa along with traditional Vojvodina cooking techniques, those who don't want to fish can show their knowledge preparing pork or learn that skill while, of course, tasting Vojvodina specialties.

And until then, the Tisa Quay, adorned in the fall "clothes," awaits lovers of long walks by the river, which is believed to run the slowest in the world...
