Brnabic meets with Escobar: Belgrade is committed to dialogue, it takes two sides
Prime Minister of Serbia Ana Brnabic spoke today with US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State and Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar, who stated that he expects the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina to continue, as well as further steps towards the normalization of relations.
Brnabic once again stressed Belgrade's full focus on the dialogue and determination to find a compromise solution, as well as noting that a dialogue requires two sides that are ready to talk, the Serbian Government said in a statement.
The prime minister also pointed out that in order to continue the dialogue, it is crucial to respect and implement the already reached agreements, so that each next step in the dialogue would be meaningful. In that sense she referred to the fact that it will soon be 10 years since the Brussels Agreement, and that the Community of Serb Municipalities (ZSO) has not yet been formed.
Escobar said that dialogue is the only way to reach a comprehensive solution, which, according to him, will ensure progress for the entire region. He pointed out that the US will continue to provide strong support for normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina and that it will carefully monitor all the efforts and activities of both sides.
Brnabic and Escobar also discussed bilateral relations between Serbia and the US.
Brnabic pointed out that continuing to improve all areas of cooperation with the United States is one of Serbia's foreign policy priorities.
The meeting was attended by the US ambassador in Serbia, Christopher Hill.
