Vucic reveals whether he is satisfied with the work of Bratislav Gasic and the BIA agency
President Aleksandar Vucic said today that he is satisfied with the work of BIA director Bratislav Gasic, and of the work of most members of the Security-Information Agency (BIA), who are protecting the country.
When asked if he is satisfied with Gasic's performance and whether he will remain at the helm of the BIA, given the speculation that he might return to the government, Vucic said that his satisfaction with Gasic's work is unequivocal.
"As far as personnel decisions are concerned - wait a few more days. I believe that everything will be known on Saturday or Sunday, regarding the ministers and all other people," he said.
When asked if he was satisfied with Gacis' work, taking into account the case of him getting wiretapped, Vucic said that people in the BIA took this hard because they provided different types of protection but did not expect that someone inside the system could do that.
He also pointed out that BIA looks much different today than it did five, six, seven or eight years ago - "as if this were a different country."
"You can see what the premises look like, the situation room, the monitoring and eavesdropping equipment, the weapons... It's incomparable, it's not measurable, it can't be compared to what it was like before," said Vucic.
As for the work of BIA members, he said that there are no objections and that it is important that these people are always on the side of Serbia, and not on the side of any service, from the West or the East.
"In the previous days when we had guests from both the West and the East, while performing all the counter-intelligence measures, sometimes even 'double following', we established how members of the opposing services were following them. So it was like Casablanca, as if everything is getting decided in Serbia and not so many thousands of kilometers away from us," Vucic stressed.
But, he continued, "what can one do, when some people can't take it out on powerful countries, so they find themselves the 'little Serbia' to take it out on."
"And it is up to us to guard Serbia, our small beautiful country, for ourselves, our people and citizens," said Vucic.
