This is the building in Novi Sad where a son lived next to his father's corpse

An apartment where the decomposing body of an elderly man was found last night is located in the building at 5c Jiricekova Street. The late man's son was living next to the corpse in the same apartment.

The police have now sealed it, and there is a sign on the door that says it is forbidden to remove the seal.

An unbearable stench is spreading throughout the building and it is effectively impossible to enter without covering the nose with a mask or a cloth; the stench is so strong that it causes the urge to vomit.

The building was unusually empty today, so we didn't manage to talk to the residents, because the only one we came across refused to speak to us.

What makes things even more eery is that there's no light in a part of the corridor, so the whole place looks like something out of a horror movie.

As we managed to find out, the neighbors from apartment 5b reported the unbearable stench, and the police immediately came, along with a locksmith. However, there was no need for the locksmith's services, because to the astonishment of the police officers, the son opened the apartment door, and his father's body was lying in the next room.

An ambulance came to the scene, and as we have learned from a well-informed source, the son has been taken the psychiatry ward of the Clinical Center of Vojvodina.

We do not know what further actions the authorities will take regarding the son, nor whether he is mentally ill. What we managed to find out is that this was most likely a socially vulnerable family, but the reason why the son did not bury his father is not known - whether it is financial or some other reason.

More information about this event will be known after the investigation and the autopsy, but according to initial indications, the man most likely died of natural causes.
