Vojvodina is the kingdom of salt lakes in Serbia: Pacir is the best known and most attractive
Lakes in Serbia have always attracted tourists, both for swimming and fishing, and because of the nature that surrounds them, whose beauty can be enjoyed during all four seasons.
A special attraction are salt lakes, located in the northern Vojvodina plain.
There is almost no tourist in Serbia who has never wanted to swim in the famous pink lake near Subotica. The Pacir Spa was opened in 2014 and in addition to a unique water color, it is also thermal, and quite salty.
Another spa in Vojvodina has a salt lake. This is Rusanda near Zrenjanin, unique in that it sprung up on the shore of the largest salt lake in Serbia. Due to the high temperatures during the summer, water evaporates faster and mineral salts accumulate on the surface of the soil. A phenomenon known as "the blooming of the salt" may seem concerning, but it is actually very beneficial for protected plant species that grow in salt marshes.
Near Zrenjanin, in Elemir, is Lake Okanj, also known as the Okanj spa. With the surrounding area and ponds, it has been given the status of a special nature reserve.
Slano Kopovo near Novi Beceg has the same status. Here, the water often dries up, which is why a white carpet of salt forms on the surface of the lake bed.
It was created in the 17th century and is one of the few locations in Serbia where, with higher air temperatures, and thanks to the temperature difference compared to the fields surrounding it, mirages appear.
