Vucic meets with Saudi foreign minister: "We are interested in deepening relations"

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met today with Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, with whom he discussed cooperation in the field of defense, the defense industry, energy, and especially in the sphere of renewable energy sources.

President Vucic thanked the distinguished guest for the first bilateral visit from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia to Serbia and added that our country is interested in deepening cooperation with the Kingdom, which it sees as a potentially important partner.

Speaking about economic cooperation, the interlocutors agreed that there are numerous unused potentials for the development of partnership in the fields of agriculture, tourism, construction, IT sector and energy, as well as in the sphere of renewable energy sources, which was specifically discussed at the meeting.

The interlocutors also highlighted the areas of military-economic, military-medical and military-educational cooperation, which should be further strengthened and improved in the coming period.

Pointing to numerous large global companies that have been successfully operating in Serbia for a long time, President Vucic invited businesspeople and investors from Saudi Arabia to invest in our country and to participate in joint projects with their Serbian counterparts.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud said that the business community is a key factor in building good relations between countries and expressed interest in strengthening cooperation in all domains of mutual interest, and the interlocutors agreed that additional work should be done to connect the business community of our two countries, as well as that organizing a business summit that would bring together successful businessmpeople and investors would significantly improve economic relations between Serbia and Saudi Arabia.

The meeting also touched on the ways to further improve and strengthen overall bilateral and economic relations, as well as political dialogue at all levels, as a basis for deeper mutual connection and understanding on issues of importance at a bilateral and multilateral level.
