Miroslav D. (57), who is suspected of hitting a woman (48) several times in public in Mladenovac, was questioned today at the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in that Belgrade municipality.

We have learned unofficially that his statement was brief

"She took my keys," he told the prosecutor.

During the hearing, he briefly presented his defense. Afterwards, the prosecution proposed to the judge for preliminary proceedings of the Basic Court in Mladenovac to keep him in custody, but the judge rejected that proposal.

The judge, however, imposed a restraining order prohibiting the attacker from approaching, meeting or communicating with the victim and the witnesses. Miroslav D. is charged with the criminal offense of violent behavior.

As the proceeding continue, the prosecution will question the woman and collect other evidence.
