Brnabic: Serbia is under greatest pressure ever since 1999
Prime Minister of Serbia Ana Brnabic said last night that Serbia is facing the biggest pressure so far, which is a reaction to the address of President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic at the UN General Assembly in New York City.
Brnabic told TV Pink that Serbia is currently under the greatest pressure since 1999 (when NATO bombed the country), which now comes after the president's speech during which is "threw" the truth straight at great powers, without excessive emotion.
Brnabic said that pressure has also increased because of the signing of the consultation plan between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia and Russia, adding that the negative reactions due to that document are unnecessary, because it is not legally binding and it has been signed for the last 26 years.
"If any of those who criticize and attack Serbia and are announcing declarations against our country had looked at it, they would have seen that, unlike similar plans, this one does not mention the security aspect, nor any consultations regarding military cooperation," said Brnabic.
She added that the disproportionately strong reaction compared to the meaning of the consultation plan is an indication that a way to react to Vucic's speech in New York was beings sought, because certain major powers could not bear the truth presented by the president.
"I tried to talk with EU officials today, there is no room for conversation, they do not hear us, there is brutal blackmail, threats," said Brnabic.
She said that due to pressure that Serbia is suffering, there are many politicians in the SNS and members of the government who want the country to change its policy to make that pressure disappear, while the president wants us to lead an independent foreign policy, no matter how difficult it may be.
"One of the basic principles of the SNS is that Serbia is conducting an independent foreign policy," said Brnabic.
