Former world and European champion visits Red Star
Legendary Italian footballer Marco Materazzi came to Belgrade on Tuesday and on that occasion visited Red Star and the club's stadium!
During his career, Materazzi was world champion with the Italian national team in 2006, European champion with Inter (2010), and he came to the capital of Serbia as a promoter of the the FIFA trophy that will be lifted by the winner of the World Cup this year.
This is not the Italian's first time in Serbia, since he was a guest at Dejan Stankovic's camp on Mt. Zlatibor in 2018. Previously, he also played at Sinisa Mihajlovic's farewell game organized to mark the end of his career as a footballer.
It is also interesting that Materazzi once lobbied for Diego Falcinelli to join Red Star. Along with Sinisa Mihajlovic, of course.
"Sinisa advised me to accept the offer. I had no doubts when it came to Red Star and coming to Belgrade in terms of football. I hope to play and win titles. The only doubt was my daughter and her move to Belgrade, but we solved that too. Materazzi also advised me to transfer here," Falcinelli said after arriving in Belgrade.
