Sector 6 of the Belgrade bypass includes the section from Strazevica to Bubanj Potok, with the full profile of the highway

The bypass around Belgrade is one of the most important traffic sections, which - when completed in half a year - should significantly reduce traffic congestion in the capital.

In early December 2021, Minister of Construction Tomislav Momirovic said that the Belgrade bypass "must be completed within a year" - however, at the beginning of August this year, it was announced that the works would be finished in February/March.

All in all, the works are entering the final phase, and a part of the section in Sector 6 remains to be built.

"Works are being carried out on all bridges and on the entire route, and we have only one section left. After more than 30 years, I expect that next summer we will no longer have huge traffic jams in the center of Belgrade," Momirovic said recently.

Sector 6 is otherwise considered the most complex part of the bypass, from Strazevica to Bubanj Potok, with the full profile of the highway (a total of six lanes) 30 meters wide, with the 360-meters long Beli Potok tunnel, the Avala loop, the Bubanj Potok loop, where the bypass will connect with the Belgrade-Nis highway; it has 13 bridges.

"Due to the complexity of the project, all available resources are currently focused on this section, in order to do as much work as possible during the current season," said the head of the project and representative of the public company Putevi Srbije Aleksandar Kostadinovic.

The ministry is implementing this project in cooperation with Putevi Srbije, the Chinese company Power Construction Corporation of China Ltd, and the Azerbaijani company Azvirt.
