Slovenian companies suspend gas deliveries: Price restrictions create losses

Domplan in Kranje and Komunalno in Velenje announced that they will stop supplying natural gas because of high prices of this energy on the market and general energy costs.

The Slovenian government previously published a decree limiting prices of gas.

Suppliers adjusted their prices to the government decree, according to which a kilowatt-hour of natural gas can cost a maximum of 0.073 euros.

The Kranj company Domplan then announced that it is suspending gas deliveries starting November, and canceling contracts with all customers.

"Based on the financial analysis, the management of the company assessed that it cannot take risks brought on by the price decree," explained director Sasa Krc.

He added that the decision has to do with the development of the energy crisis and the undefined situation regarding compensation for damages to suppliers.

In August, for similar reasons, Komunalno Velenje announced suspension of natural gas deliveries starting October 1.

Energetika Celje is also thinking about such a move, unless the state covers the loss of revenue incurred by price restrictions.
