Vucevic: Proposed members of the new Serbian cabinet to be known by September 25

By September 25, we can expect a proposal of the new composition of the government, said the mayor of Novi Sad, Milos Vucevic, reminding that October 30 is the deadline for the election process to complete.

Vucevic told TV Prva that the energy among the new ministers will be much more important than the composition, adding that he expects the new government to bring new energy and courage.

"It is more important whether the new government will lead Serbia out of the 'maze' that awaits us," said Vucevic and added that he believes that until now "synchronization between ministers has been lacking and dissonant voices could often be heard."

According to him, the coming days will be dynamic because the future composition of the government must be checked and confirmed by the party bodies in the SNS, and then with coalition partners.

Vucevic is calling on everyone to wait for the PM designate Ana Brnabic to go public with the proposed composition of the new government and adding that the only thing that is known for now is that Brnabic will be the prime minister, SPS president Ivica Dacic will be the deputy prime minister, Sinisa Mali and he vice premiers.

He also stated that the policy that the government will implement is more important than its members.

"I expect that we will get a good pro-Serbian government, which will protect Serbian interests," said Vucevic and added that "the years behind us remind us that we did not have good moments when governments were put together by foreign embassies or tycoons."

The mayor of Novi Sad also expects minority parties to be more involved in the government.

Asked if speculation by political opponents that he will become minister of justice or interior affairs are true, Vucevic said that they are "not on the right track."

When it comes to the Assembly of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), Vucevic said it should be held by the end of the year, and when asked if he will replace Aleksandar Vucic at the helm of the SNS, he replied that he does not see himself as Vucic's replacement.

"I see myself as a member of a team. I will ask that Vucic remains at the helm of the party, that is his moral obligation," Vucevic added and said that it is the undivided expectation and opinion of SNS members that Vucic should remain their party's leader.

Vucevic stressed that they need Vucic, because he is a guarantor of stability within the party and of a strong SNS, which is needed, especially in the upcoming period of crisis.

"At least let's get out of the crisis, and then we'll see. I don't see that the moment is right for changes in that context. I also understand what Vucic is saying, that he has been under pressure for years, that we wear him down him with various opinions, but I think he has a moral responsibility towards the party and towards Serbia to remain at the helm of the largest party in the country," says Vucevic.
