KFOR increases its presence at Jarinje and Brnjak
KFOR has increased its presence at Jarinje and Brnjak, as well as patrolling activities in the area, in order to "increase awareness of the situation" KFOR's Public Relations Office said in a response to Kosovo Online's question regarding the observed increased presence of KFOR at Jarinje and the arrival of two KBS (Kosovo Security Forces) SUVs in the area of the administrative crossing, and whether they had the necessary permission for that.
It is stated that these measures were taken to enable KFOR to respond quickly to any security challenges.
"We want to assure everyone that KFOR is ready to intervene if necessary," the reply added, reports Tanjug.
It is also stressed that the mandate of the KFOR Mission, which derives from UN Security Council Resolution 1244 passed in 1999, is to ensure a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement for all people in Kosovo.
"In order to carry out its tasks, KFOR maintains a visible and agile stance in the field," the statement said.
