Vucic: "They are preparing liquidations of our people in north Kosovo. I'm warning them not to do it"
After a meeting today with young athletes from the diaspora, President Aleksandar Vucic took questions from journalists.
Vucic first commented on the dialogue with the prime minister of the provisional institutions in Pristina, Albin Kurti, to say said that he is very skeptical about achieving any results.
"All they said was that they were going to impose their will. They don't care what Belgrade has to say, so I don't even know what the dialogue is for. Those who said that the ZSO (Community of Serb Municipalities) should be discussed, as well as that it must be in accordance with the constitution of Kosovo, let me ask them, are they kidding? What did we negotiate for, then," asked Vucic.
According to Vucic, there have been months of negotiations about this, and they now want it to be in accordance with the constitution of Kosovo.
"Don't force us to give up our rights, don't even try, don't even think about it. I have repeatedly pointed to the statements by which they are preparing the ground. You can do whatever you want against Serbia, but you won't get our blessing. I believe that in September, when the government has been formed, we will go to the Assembly and talk about Kosovo."
Vucic said that they want to put pressure on Serbia. His message for the Quint (US, Germany, France, Italy, UK) is that we come in good faith, but not to force us to take part in the destruction of our own country - "not to even think about doing that."
"Several times I pointed to the statements that are preparing the ground, by which I guess they want to inform me how they will carry it all out. OK, say there is no law, that you are not interested in (UN) Resolution 1244, nor in UN law, which you are mentioning so much when it comes to the conflict in Ukraine, but when it comes to this part of Europe and the world, you are not interested in it," said Vucic.
"I still hope that reason will prevail. As soon as someone is a Serb and for Serbia, they are treated as a criminal. My plea to the Quint people is, don't do it, don't think about it. There has been no shooting, but we will not allow anyone to open fire at us."
Asked to comment on Kurti's statement that "Serbia leads an aggressive policy," the president said:
"It's all ridiculous, you've been hearing it for 170 days, that Serbia is attacking someone somewhere. They are preparing liquidations of our people in the north. I am warning them not to do that. Don't be killing people. We need peace and stability. We won't be killing anyone. They are trying to take advantage of the situation in Ukraine," said the president and announced numerous talks in the coming days.
Vucic added that he is going to Brussels for that reason.
"I don't expect any result, but I am going there for the talks," he said.
"If everything goes well and there are no problems, if it end peacefully, let's all be happy. If he thinks he's going to bully people, that won't work," Vucic said of Kurti.
Government negotiations
"Today I will speak to Ivica Dacic, a potential coalition partner," the president said.
About the Danas report
"I did not sue any journalist, any newspaper. I don't do that. I won't do anything myself. I have no problem with that. As for the address (his home address that has been published), it's all a bit complicated, since my elder children have lost their mother."
The witch-hunt in Croatia
"What can I say to the Croats, that Vucic's propagandist is Filip Rodic, whom I have never seen? The man says it's a photo-montage. I read what was published in Pecat, I read what is written in Novosti, but I have not met the man. You should be ashamed of lying so much. Let's analyze what I did, what I am guilty of. I committed the terrible sin of asking three times to visit Jasonovac, and I will not vacation in Croatia. Did I say a bad word? My entire sin is that I wanted to lay a flower. They say that Vucic opened up (the issue of Operation) Storm - do you want the killers of children to go unpunished?," asked the president.
