"I think that story is over": Many Belgraders refuse to wear masks again, some are still afraid of coronavirus

The number of people getting infected with coronavirus is constantly rising, but it seems this epidemiological situation does not worry the majority of Belgraders, who believe that the Omicron variant is mild and does not lead to complications, but there are also those who are of the opinion that it's better to be careful.

Thus, a young woman from Belgrade told Tanjug that despite the growing number of Covid cases, she is not afraid of coronavirus and admits that she does not follow any epidemiological recommendations.

"I used to comply with all epidemiological measures, now I don't, I behave normally," she said.

On the other hand, an elderly fellow citizen points out that due to the current epidemiological situation, he is afraid of getting Covid, and that is why he started wearing a mask indoors.

"I follow some measures at the moment, I wear a mask indoors and when going to the store, but I started wearing it again recently, when the epidemiological situation started to deteriorate," he stated.

Young Uros Kacarevic says that he is not worried about the epidemiological situation, because he believes that the Omicron strain is milder compared to the previous waves of coronavirus, so he does not follow any recommendations.

"People need to be careful, of course, but it's not like it was before," he says.

Aleksa Stojanovic agrees with this, saying that now the situation regarding coronavirus is different and stressed that he does not wear a mask "because there is no need for that."

"People don't wear masks, nor do they follow recommendations, I think that story is over," he says.

Milica Koscuk, a middle-aged woman from Belgrade, says that she is not afraid of getting infected with coronavirus, because she and her husband have already had it, but that because of the rising number of new cases, she is cautious and keeps distance.

"I haven't started wearing a mask yet, but I will definitely start it in the coming days," she says.

The driver of a Belgrade bus says that he noticed that the passengers are not wearing masks at all and that they have relaxed, but that he is careful and wears a mask indoors during this period.

"I have nothing to fear, whatever will be will be," he says.

On the other hand, Aleksandar Bugarcic, a young man from Belgrade, says that he is not under the impression that coronavirus is still present, that he is not afraid of getting infected and does not wear a mask, nor is he protecting himself from the virus in other ways.
