Momirovic: Serbian Railways receives permit, everything ready for construction of Prokop station building
"(Serbian) Railways has received a building permit and everything is ready for the start of works to build a modern train station building at the Belgrade Center railway station in Prokop," Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Tomislav Momirovic said today.
"We've completed the concrete construction at Prokop and put the station into function as the main (Belgrade) railway station. It has six platforms and 10 tracks, the area of this concrete structure covers 50,000 square meters, and the conditions have been created for the start of works on the main railway building," Momirovic confirmed for Tanjug.
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic previously announced that works on the building could start on August 8, and the minister says that this will happen "very soon."
He stressed that Belgrade will get one of the most beautiful train station buildings with "avant-garde commercial facilities."
"This is a capital project for the entire country and I am convinced that by the end of 2023 we will have one of the most beautiful train stations here, and that this part of the city will begin to develop in a different way," the minister stressed and added that a lot of time has been invested in preparation for the start of the project.
