Vucic: "I am neither Milosevic nor Tadic, try something and you will face a different Serbia"
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic said last night that he will speak with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Wednesday about the situation in Kosovo and Metohija.
Vucic made an appearance on RTS when he said that he had spoken with many world leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, as well as with (EU envoy) Miroslav Lajcak at least ten times.
"We went through a very difficult two or three days, I'm afraid there will be more. (Albin) Kurti and the Pristina authorities were making unilateral moves," said Vucic and added that they more or less got the support of the Quint (US, Germany, France, Italy, UK) for that.
Vucic noted that anyone who thinks that peace can be preserved with Albin Kurti is wrong, although, according to him, no one in the West is interested in unrest in Kosovo and Metohija.
"The worst case scenario was barely avoided two evenings ago, we were one step away from disaster," said Vucic.
He explained that Kurti was referring to the 2011 agreement, which was bad for Serbia, and which was signed by Borko Stefanovic, (then Serbian president) Tadic's envoy, adding that it states that they have the right to introduce reciprocity.
"We can't let people without an accompanying document pass through with their Kosovo documents. They interpret that as the right to do this to the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, who cannot represent 'the other side'. With this, they deliberately want to harass Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija," Vucic said.
When it comes to the license plates re-registration, he said they are not right at all because they canceled KS license plates. Vucic stressed that the goal is to show that by abolishing the KM plates, there is no more state of Serbia in Kosovo.
Asked if he will go to Brussels on August 18, when the dialogue should take place, Vucic replied:
"I will go, it's no bother to me, I've had more difficult working days, but I don't expect anything."
Vucic also said that the essence of the problem, a part of which is everything that happened in the past two days in the north of Kosovo and Metohija, is that it is obvious that some in the region are thinking of "linking" Serbia to Russia, so that the whole West can "lunge" towards Serbia, since they can't do that to Russia.
"The essence of the problem is that it is obvious that some in the region think that they should use the circumstances of a general hysteria due to Russia's attack on Ukraine, to link Serbia to Russia, so that the whole West can lunge towards Serbia, because they cannot do that with Putin. So that they, in the region, could realize their interests," said Vucic.
Believe me, we will win
"I don't think that what is happening suits the Americans. But they will always support them (Pristina) when it comes down to it. This is their baby who's cradle they have been rocking for almost 25 years, when terrorists became legal and legitimate fighters. Believe me, we will win," said Vucic.
Vucic also said: "I am neither Milosevic nor Tadic, I am not accustomed to losing. If you try to make out of Serbia something like you did in the past you will face a different Serbia and a different response."
According to Vucic Serbia has a fair relationship with KFOR, and nobody has been threatening Serbia. He added that he will always "beg and kneel" for peace, but when someone crosses the line, threatens the lives of our people and thinks they can carry out a pogrom, he will not allow it.
Serb arrested was kidnapped by special units
The Serb who was arrested yesterday in Kosovo was kidnapped by special intelligence units directly managed by Albin Kurti and has been taken to the south, and NATO did not react, said Vucic.
He added that they arrested an innocent Serb just because he thinks, like the rest, that Kosovo is Serbia.
"They will say that he is guilty of taking part in a protest near the barricades. We are learning about what they are framing him with. All Serbs were at the barricades because they do not consider Kosovo to be an independent state," Vucic explained.
He pointed out that Kurti is telling Quint representatives that he is fighting against mafia and crime, and to him all Serbs, except for those who say that Kosovo is independent, are criminals and mafia. To that, he adds, the Quint tells him that they support the fight against crime and mafia.
"He (the Serb) was not arrested by ROSU members, but by a special intelligence unit directly managed by Kurti and the Pristina government. Dzavid Tahiri led the action of arresting the Serb. They kidnapped him and took him to the south," said Vucic.
He underlined that they have no right to such behavior because it is the regional police that must act in the north.
"They neither asked nor informed the regional police. NATO should have reacted, but didn't, because they consider it all to be the fight against crime and mafia. Just as they persecuted Todosijevic because he said what we all think about Racak, we don't know what will happen to him," he said.
