Background of disturbing video of a mother savagely beating a child in Obrenovac: It was posted out of revenge

A video showing a mother from Obrenovac beating her three-year-old son with a fly swatter is, as we have unofficially learned, about two years old.

The Basic Prosecutor's Office in Obrenovac confirmed for us that they have been informed about the video.

"The Prosecutor's Office ordered the police and the Center for Social Welfare to take appropriate measures within their competences in order to establish all relevant facts, so that the Prosecutor's Office could make a decision regarding the video that has surfaces. Checks by the aforementioned authorities are ongoing," the Prosecutor's Office told Telegraf.

As we have unofficially learned, the video reappeared in public after it was published last night by the suspected mother's brother. He allegedly came to his sister to ask for money, and since she didn't have any to give to him, he published the video of her beating the child out of revenge.

The brother has since disappeared. Previously, there had been no reports of violence in this family.

The horrific video shows the mother beating a crying toddler with a fly swatter as he is lying on a mattress.

"Enough, I said enough," she tells the child angrily, and then briefly addresses the person filming and leaves the room, telling the child, "Don't you move."
