The confluence of the Piva and Tara rivers near Scepan Polje in Montenegro creates the Drina River, which flows through the northern part of Montenegro, southwestern and western Serbia, the eastern part of the Serb Republic (RS), and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH).

It used to separate the eastern and western parts of the Roman Empire, and because of its wild temper, it mercilessly flooded settlements along its banks.

At the end of the 19th century, it did not even spare the famous bridge in Visegrad.

At that time, the fast river was used to transport timber, and then with the construction of Lake Zvornik and the Perucac dam, this craft died out.

What, however, has been going on for decades is the Drina Regatta, a traditional event commemorating rafting on wood plank floats. This year, it will be held for the 28th time in Bajana Basta, it will last four days and will gather all lovers of rafting, but also those of fishing, masters in making fish soup, souvenir manufacturers, makers of honey and brandy.

They all have one thing in common - a love for the most beautiful river in the Balkans, on the banks of which hot summer days are easier to bear...
