EU: Pristina should have approved visit of Petar Petkovic to Kosovo and Metohija
EU spokesman Peter Stano says that Wednesday's visit by the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, was announced in accordance with the procedures and should have been approved by the institutions in Pristina.
Peter Stano stated that the EU received two notifications in recent days that Petar Petkovic intends to visit Kosovo and Metohija.
"The first notification was procedurally not in accordance with the Agreement on Official Visits, which regulates the procedures for notifying and conducting official visits. The second notification, however, was fully in accordance with the arrangements and therefore the visit should have been approved," Stano stated in a written statement for Tanjug.
The EU spokesperson added that official visits between Belgrade and Pristina play an important role in promoting the normalization of relations and mutual understanding and stressed that they should not be politicized.
"The EU appeals to both parties to resolve all such disagreements and misunderstandings in good faith through dialogue using the established communication channels of liaison officers. Both sides should respect all previous agreements and implement pending obligations, including those related to official visits," concluded Stano.
