Hungarians declare state of emergency: Energy crisis shakes neighbors
Hungary has declared a state of emergency due to the energy situation, and Budapest will ban exports and increase domestic production ahead of the winter shortages.
The government of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban ordered a ban on the export of energy products and thus abolished the multi-year limit on prices of utility services for households that use energy above the average level of consumption.
The Hungarian government has declared a state of emergency in the energy sector, confirmed the assistant of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbáns, Gergely Gulyas.
The measures, which include a plan to increase domestic gas production to two billion cubic meters from 1.5 billion, will take effect from August to ensure continuous energy supply during the winter, Gulyas said, according to Reuters.
