Petkovic: International community must reason with Kurti, if we had ZSO, Strpce raid wouldn't have happened

The director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, told RTS that Pristina is no longer looking for an excuse for raiding Serb communities in Kosovo and Metohija and that its intention is to intimidate the Serb people and put pressure on Belgrade.

He said that Albin Kurti's unilateral decisions show that the situation is sliding into a serious crisis. His message to the international community is to reason with Kurti and return to dialogue.

Petar Petkovic told RTS that "Albin Kurti's terror against the Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija continues."

"Yesterday morning, over 30 ROSU special forces raided Strpce wearing balaclavas and armed with rifles, and this is the third time they have that that in this municipality since the beginning of the year, each time on a major (Serbian Orthodox) holiday," said Petkovic.

Allegedly, the purpose was to remove security cameras from street poles, which have not been working for several years.

"At the same time, the Kosovo police checked that server and saw that it was not functioning. Pristina is no longer looking for an excuse for raiding Serb communities. Their intention is to intimidate the Serb people and expel them and to do everything in order to put pressure on Belgrade and force the Serb people to leave the southern province," stressed Petkovic.

There are, he added, security risks.

"When you see what Albin Kurti is doing, refusing dialogue, trampling on agreements, trying to humiliate the Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija, seeing how the human rights of Serbs in Kosovo and Kosovo are being canceled every day, it's clear that this picture from Strpce shows how nervous Kurti is and on the other hand determined to go in the direction of destabilizing the situation in Kosovo and Metohija. Only thanks to  the composed reaction and behavior of our people have we avoided major conflicts, not to mention that Belgrade and President Vucic have called for peace," said Petkovic.

He stressed that Pristina wants to provoke a negative reaction of our people in Kosovo and Metohija, or of Belgrade.
