Vesic: Serbia has no problem with Albania but with authorities in Pristina who are avoiding any agreement

SNS Presidency member Goran Vesic said that the Serbian position when it comes to Kosovo and Metohija is more than clear.

"We are asking the international community several questions, whether international law is respected, whether the resolutions of the United Nations are respected, whether international agreements are respected and whether territorial integrity is respected. If someone does not respect the territorial integrity of Serbia, which was attacked in 1999, how can they demand that we respect the territorial integrity of Ukraine, which we otherwise do," said Vesic.

He added that on the first day of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, Serbia took the position that it was a violation of the territorial integrity of a country.

"When it comes to Kosovo, the question is whether international agreements are respected and why the authorities in Pristina did not respect the Brussels agreement," said Vesic and stressed that there can be no dialogue before the Community of Serb Municipalities is formed.

When it comes to international recognition, Vesic said that Serbia has no need to be recognized, which, he stated, is a big problem for those who are promoters of an independent state of Kosovo because they know that that state, i.e. "that artificial creation" will never be recognized until Serbia recognizes it.

Vesic also said that it is another victory of Vucic that more countries in the world do not, than do recognize Kosovo at this moment.

"It's up to us to continue negotiations, you saw that Vucic didn't refuse any dialogue. We understand that relations between Serbs and Albanians should be resolved only by Serbs and Albanians. We know that we have to reach a compromise with them, because we live in the same space. We don't accept blackmail, the relationship between the two nations can only be resolved by those nations. It is enough to look at Bosnia and Herzegovina, where the reconciliation has not yet happened, to see what it looks like when solutions are imposed," said Vesic.

"We are neighbors, we have to cooperate. The Open Balkan (initiative) is a true example of that, Serbia does not have a problem with Albania, but with the authorities in Pristina who are avoiding reaching any agreement," concluded Vesic.

He touched on the end of the election process in Veliki Trnovac and said that Serbia will finally get a government it desperately needs.

"Once the parliament is constituted, it means that the president will be able to start consultations (about PM-designate). After consultations, the president of Serbia will be able to assign a mandate to a person whom he believes can have the votes of least 126 deputies, that is, a majority in order to elect the government. After that, consultations for the election of the government begin, the president announced it will happen in the shortest possible time," Vesic said and stressed that Serbia will get a new government quickly because we are facing big problems and difficult decisions.

"We need to have a serious government that will make serious decisions," said Vesic.
