Viola von Cramon: "We want to see a meeting at the level of leaders of Serbia and Kosovo this July"
The rapporteur of the European Parliament for Kosovo, Viola von Cramon, says that today's adoption of a resolution on Kosovo means that the European parliamentarians have sent a clear signal that normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina "based on mutual recognition" is crucial for the progress of "both countries" on the path of EU integration.
"We want to see implementation of the agreements reached so far within the dialogue and a meeting at the level of leaders of Serbia and Kosovo this July," Cramon said, Tanjug reported.
Cramon stated during a press conference in Strasbourg that the resolution on Kosovo proposes "successful integration of the North" and further efforts to improve the everyday life of Kosovo Serbs, which, according to her, would contribute to the overall stability and security of Kosovo.
She added that the war in Ukraine has led to the strengthening of the EULEX presence in Kosovo, but that no serious threat to the security and territorial integrity of Kosovo, either in the North or in other parts, has been observed.
The EP's rapporteur for Kosovo called on Pristina authorities to implement the decisions of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo regarding the (medieval Serbian Orthodox) Visoki Decani monastery and added that there should be no selective application of the rule of law in Kosovo and Metohija.
In conclusion, Cramon repeated the invitation to EU members to make a decision on visa liberalization for citizens of Kosovo and Metohija and specifically called on the Netherlands and France to unblock that process.
