Indictment is filed, man who raped his granddaughter in Belgrade could spend life in prison

The Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade has filed an indictment against Dragan D. (61) from Belgrade because he was raping a child, his underage granddaughter, from February 2021 until February this year.

The indictment charges him with the criminal offense of rape. If found guilty, the suspect could spend at least 10 years behind bars, while the maximum sentence is life imprisonment.

The indictment was filed with the Higher Court in Belgrade for confirmation on June 6. D.D. is suspected of using force and threats to rape the girl in his apartment within the family house where he lives, as does the girl with her parents, who have four more children, as well as her uncle's family.

The suspect is held in custody in order not to repeat the crime.
