Loznica doctor convicted for death of 8-year-old Radenko: It is known for how long he will go to prison

A panel of the Basic Court in Sabac presided by Judge Tatjana Ilic has passed a verdict in the case of the death of Radenko Nikodinovic (8) from the village of Kozjak, near Loznica.

Dr. Dobrivoje Bojanic, an orthopedist working in the General Hospital in Loznica, where he was the head of the Orthopedic Ward for years, has been sentenced to three years in prison and banned from practicing medicine for five years, reports Pink.rs.

In the meantime, Dr. Bojanic also received a two-year ban from practicing orthopedics from the Medical Chamber, but the management of the hospital did not send him back to the Orthopedics Ward. Instead he was assigned to statistics, which is the job he is doing to this day.

Two doctors from Belgrade, who were indicted in this case, have been acquitted.

The verdict has yet to reach all the parties, including the Public Prosecutor's Office in Sabac, which is acting in that case.

8-year-old Radenko Nikodinovic from the village of Kozjak in Loznica passed away because - as his parents Milan and Zorica claim - of inadequate medical care he received in Loznica. The child developed sepsis in his arm which spread to other parts of his body.

The tragedy was preceded by children playing on Sunday, October 2, 2016, when Radenko fell off a slide and broke his arm in two places.

The parents of the deceased child, Milan and Zorica Nikodinovic, testified that doctor Dobrivoje Bojanic from Loznica put a cast on his arm, claiming that "everything is fine and the bones fit perfectly." However, they claim, the arm completely rotted, and although he was operated on three times in Belgrade, the boy could not be saved, considering that the bacteria that causes sepsis had spread to his lungs and head.
