Djokovic loses his ATP throne and falls to third place, here's who will be the new "tennis king"
Serbian tennis player and also the best tennis player in the world, Novak Djokovic, failed to qualify for the semifinals of the second Grand Slam of the season, as he was defeated by Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals (6-2, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6) which will make him lose the top spot next Monday.
Djokovic was defending 2000 points in Paris, since he beat Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final of this Grand Slam last year, but the Spaniard got in his way this year and thus got back at Djokovic for losing in last year's semifinals.
Since he failed to defend the title, Djokovic will lose a lot of points and from next Monday (June 13) will be the third ranked on the ATP list! The first two places will be reserved for Russian Daniil Medvedev and German Alexander Zverev.
Medvedev has already dropped out of the French Open, while Zverev remained in the game and will play against Rafael Nadal in the semifinals. If Zverev manages to win the tournament, he will be at the top of the ATP list from Monday, leaving Medvedev and Djokovic behind.
