President Aleksandar Vucic said today, when asked whether he will impose sanctions against Russia - considering that some politicians in our country are making guesses about the date of that decision - that he was aware of one Baba Vanga (a clairvoyant) from Bulgaria, but that it seems we in Serbia have plenty of them on the political scene.

"If someone told me that there were so many, I wouldn't have believed them. Every day they do prophetic work and they do nonsense, every day they talk nonsense. First they said during the (election) campaign that they were against sanctions while I was silent and pursued a responsible policy, they screamed against everything because it's easy for them, they can afford it, they don't have to answer for anything, they don't care, they do politics sitting in a cafe, they drink beer and say whatever they want," Vucic said in conversations with journalists after visiting works on a bypass that leads to Bubanj Potok.

According to him, those who were against sanctions, after the elections said that they are in favor, and some others who are against sanctions are saying that he will impose them.

"And our position is the same it was 90 days ago, the only country in Europe that has exactly the same, fair position and a position that is harmonized with the top interests of the state of Serbia. That is the position of seriousness, responsibility, respect of international public law, and that is the Serbian position," said the president.

He added that the fact that he does not thump his chest and is not making heroic speeches, but is thinking about how much a kilometer costs and where whether we will be able to find money for it and how to provide everything we need for that - that is another matter and shows the difference in terms of commitment, responsibility, and everything else.

His message to citizens is that the government in Serbia is behaving responsibly and does not need to make big statements.

To the politicians who predict that they will impose sanctions against Russia, Vucic told to act less like Baba Vanga, and a little more like responsible politicians who deal with the needs of their people.

"We are not changing our policy, we are conducting it responsibly, and people will see the result in the end. Don't forget that they said back on April 3 that I would impose sanctions that night, and what happened on April 3? It will soon be June 3," said Vucic.
