Monkeypox virus arrives in Slovenia: First case registered

The first case of monkeypox has been confirmed in Slovenia, reports the N1 Slovenia portal.

The patient has not been hospitalized at the Infectious Diseases Clinic of the University Medical Center Ljubljana on Monday, so it can be assumed that he has a milder form of the disease.

According to the portal, the patient is a man who returned from the Canary Islands.

The Slovenian National Institute of Public Health is expected to release more information today.

Monkeypox virus has been spreading around the world. After Portugal, the US, Canada, the UK, Greece, it arrived in Germany as well. Scientists say there is no reason to panic, but advise caution.

Less than one percent of people who get infected die from monkeypox.
