Croatian PM offers condolences to family of Matej Peris, thanks Serbian police
At today's session of the government, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic expressed his condolences to the family of Matej Peris.
"After official information received from Belgrade before the start of the government meeting, we would like to express our condolences to the family of Matej Peris once again. According to the information after the DNA analysis and autopsy of the body, it was determined that it was him," said Plenkovic.
"I spoke to his father yesterday, we are sorry that it happened. I thank the Serbian police for their cooperation in recent months. There is also a representative of the Croatian police, since yesterday, when we received that information. Once again, on behalf of the entire Government, we express our condolences after this tragic event," Plenkovic added.
According to first unofficial information, DNA tests confirmed that it was the body of Matej Peris that was found in the Danube yesterday near Ada Huja in Belgrade. The DNA test was performed on the order of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade.
The body of the young man was spotted by the captain of a ship, Milovan Zelenovic.
Matej's father, Nenad Peris, also confirmed for Telegraf.rs that the Serbian police informed him that the body of a young man was found in the Danube near Ada Huja, which according to the description and the clothes on it matched that of his son at the time of his disappearance.
Matej Peris disappeared in the night between December 30 and 31.
