Brnabic: Bomb threat reports are pressure on Serbia because of Russia

Prime Minister of Serbia Ana Brnabic stressed today that pressure on our country for not imposing sanctions against Russia are getting heavier and stronger every day, that it costs Serbia dearly, but that this is the price to pay for our freedom, and the freedom to decide.

Brnabic also told TV Pink that stronger pressure can be noticed by citizens as well, if in no other way, then thanks to the daily reports about bombs, which, in her opinion, have become brazen.

"We have been resisting for 82 days, we are the only country in Europe that did not impose sanctions against Russia, even the always neutral Switzerland imposed them, even Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) imposed them, even though not everyone who should have had a say about that in BiH did have a say. We are the only country that has not imposed sanctions and we are suffering enormous pressure, which is terrible and is getting heavier, stronger and worse every day," said Brnabic.

Speaking about the fake bomb tip-offs, the prime minister said that this is not at all naive and accidental, and stressed that the disruptions are carefully planned from abroad.

What has shown for sure that these are reports coming from abroad is the one received by the Belgrade Tropicarium.

"The Belgrade Tropicarium is so small, someone looked at what could be the attractions in Belgrade, where tourists might be, a large number of people, but our Tropicarium is small, private and it shows that someone from abroad planned it, because if someone had done it from Serbia, the Tropicarium would have never occurred to them," said the prime minister.

According to her, this is also part of the pressure and the hybrid war which strikes at the psyche of our people, the safety of children, the way people feel.

"That costs a lot, not only the fight, but also the state budget when a shopping center closes, the fact that they are not open for a few hours or that fewer people will go there. (Reports about) schools cost, too, because some parents have to leave work, stay at home. Not imposing sanctions is expensive also because we have been prevented from entering the capital market, there are investors who are asking why Serbia did not impose sanctions against Russia," said the prime minister.

Brnabic stressed that all this is the price to pay for our freedom or our free decision-making.

"You are not looking at the economy, instead it is the price for being able to say that we are pursuing an independent policy in the interest of our citizens and international law," the prime minister emphasized.

She stressed that the question is how long we will be able to pay that price.

"That price is high, but I think we can all be proud of it," she stated.

According to her, it is unbelievable that no matter how difficult the situation for our country is in and how proud we can be of its actions, there is no national consensus around a basic issue, because all other parties, except the SNS, used the situation with the sanctions against Russia to get a few more votes.

"It's difficult, but I am proud that we have an independent foreign policy, and it's important that we pursue it because there are many countries in the region that immediately imposed sanctions with the explanation that they are aligning with EU policy. But we are not a member of the EU. When one day we become a member, then we will have to align with it, but then we will also participate in creating that policy and will be able to express our opinion. Now we can't do that, we can only adopt someone else's, imposed foreign policy, that we have no part in formulating, or in the decision-making," said Brnabic.

Brnabic: Kosovo applying for Council of Europe in year when rights of Serbs are violated the most

Brnabic stressed today that so-called Kosovo has submitted its application for membership in the Council of Europe in a year when Pristina denied one of the basic rights to Serbs in the southern Serbian province, and that was the right to vote in the January 16 referendum and in elections held on April 3.

"It's the height of cynicism, it's not just a violation of an agreement, which we are used to and which goes without saying - they (Pristina) have said clearly that they do not plan to implement the Brussels agreement - but now with the help of friends they are applying for the Council of Europe, which protects human rights, while they have canceled all rights of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija," Brnabic said while appearing on TV Pink.
