After Orthodox Easter and May Day holidays, tourist workers on Serbian mountains are collecting earnings, but also impressions. The general one is satisfactory, but things did not go like in previous years. The number of visits to Zlatar and Tara were about 10 percent lower than during previous holidays.

It's possible that some of the reasons behind that were the bad weather conditions announced in advance, but also the possible fear of a potential crisis because of the war in Ukraine.

"Compared to Easter, when citizens mostly spend those days at home, May Day is when the demand has always been huge. People used to book accommodation days in advance, and there were huge crowds on Tara and in Bajina Basta itself. This year there were a lot of tourists, accommodation capacities were almost all filled, but there were no big crowds. Tara, with all its beauties, has long been recognized as a top tourist destination in Serbia, so when the weather gets better, a bigger influx of guests is expected," an interlocutor told RINA.

On Zlatar, accommodation capacities were 80 percent full.

The mountain, which was in previous years recognized as an ideal place for family and active holidays, can offer a lot to visitors.

"The weather did not work in our favor. Mostly domestic tourists came to Zlatar, and the occupancy rate was slightly lower compared to last year, when there was higher demand, days in advance. We are very much preparing for the summer season, when Zlatar is full of people. Quad riding, walking, touring observation decks and cruising on some of the lakes lets all visitors to spend quality time on Zlatar," says Branko Pucarevic, director of the Tourism Organization Zlatar.
