Mystery of the Dragacevo village of Tijanje: Many think that the oak in the "dry spa" is healing

The Sretenovic farm, on the road leading from Tijanje to Guca, is crowded every weekend. People from all over Serbia come to, as they say, absorb the positive energy from the trees that grow in this Dragacevo village.

The "star of Tijanje" is an old oak whose age no one can assess with certainty. Some say it is 150 years old, some "give" it three, and even five centuries.

And just as no one knows exactly how old the oak is, there is also no scientific evidence that this tree, or others in Tijanje, is truly medicinal.

But, people believe - in the oak on the Sretenovic farm, as well as in other trees that grow in Tijanje. They say that the trees "have the power" of "extracting" the pain when one leans against them, and remains silent there for at least ten or fifteen minutes. Some leave no longer feeling rheumatic pains, some with peace of mind, some empowered to overcome the problems that caused them to come here...

Placebo effect or not, this Dragacevo village, which has only a few hundred inhabitants, is becoming more visible on the tourist map of Serbia thanks to its trees.

It has become popular as a "dry spa" because there are no healing waters there, but everything else "heals the soul."

It's unclear whether the clever hosts figured out how to attract guests, offer them boarding, delicious food and some conversation along with the story of the "elixir of youth." But there is no denying that Tijanje, named after the silence that reigns here, has something to offer tourists.

Clean air, greenery and peace are enough reasons to feel better after just a few hours in such an environment. That is why, after all, nature has always been considered to be the best healer.
