Serbia makes best offer: Our flour to be sold to Montenegro 9 cents cheaper than Bulgarian
Large bakeries, vendors and importers of flour in Montenegro received from suppliers from Serbia prices for deliveries in May, which are 10 to 15 percent lower than prices set by Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina and other markets from which Montenegro had to import flour aftter Serbia banned exports on March 10.
This means that now, and probably during the summer season, a new increase in bread prices could be avoided, which was demanded by some bakeries due to rising import prices from other markets and increasing transport costs with rising fuel prices, according to Vijesti.
The report recalls that on April 20, the Government of the Republic of Serbia approved quotas for the export of wheat, corn, flour and refined sunflower oil.
According to Vijesti, suppliers from Serbia offered customers in Montenegro type 500 flour at prices ranging from 420 to 440 euros per ton, depending on the mill.
The prices at which flour was procured from Bulgaria and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the past few days ranged from 450 to 480 euros per ton.
When all costs of transport, taxes and margins of importers are added up, the price of a kilogram of flour from Bulgaria for domestic traders and bakeries would be 62 eurocents, while now, a kilogram of flour from Serbia with all these costs would be around 53 eurocents.
