10 mysterious banners crop up on overpasses throughout Serbia, and the answer was at Belgrade's Autokomanda
After a slightly prolonged break for the Easter holidays, this week we will see a double round of matches played in the Serbian top football competition, SuperLiga. Fans in Serbia will certainly be most interested in the games of the two biggest clubs, Red Star (Crvena Zvezda) and Partizan, since they are currently involved in a fierce title race.
The current leader, Red Star, will welcome Cukaricki at home in a game that starts at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, while Partizan will play against TSC starting at 2 pm the same day.
On Sunday, both clubs will play away - Red Star against Vojvodina in Novi Sad (5 pm) and Partizan in Krusevac against Napredak (7:05 pm).
These matches could further clarify, or complicate the race.
That is why it is not surprising that the fans are awaiting them with great interest.
Red Star fans ("Delije") once again carried out a kind of "guerrilla marketing" camapaing, hanging ten banners on overpasses throughout Serbia. The messages on the banners were meant to explain what Red Star is, and their goal is to motivate as many people as possible to come to the stadium on Wednesday in Belgrade and on Sunday in Novi Sad.
It was only at Belgrade's Autokomanda that the whole message was assembled, because the last banner that revealed what this was about was displayed only there.
See below what that looked like:
(The banners read, "Family," "Love," "Tradition," "Emotion," "Life," "Joy," "Atmosphere," "Sport," "Good football," and finally, "Zvezda is all that")
Red Star is currently the leader with 85 points, two more than Partizan, and it has a better head-to-head score, so Partizan needs Red Star to either lose once or draw two games in order to catch up. There are five rounds left until the end of the season.
