Vucic to Djilas on new elections in Belgrade: My answer is essentially "yes" we'll see about technical details
"My answer is essentially 'yes', we will see about technical details," the President of Serbia and SNS Aleksandar Vucic told TV Pink, responding to the proposal of of the Freedom and Justice Party leader Dragan Djilas to hold local elections in Belgrade again. Vucic announced that he would propose that to his party.
"Mr. Djilas came, and I informed him that we have the majority. He said he understood that. Then I told him I could make a much bigger majority. He asked me if we could go to the polls. He believes that the issue of legitimacy is contentious," said Vucic and added that if the strongest opposition list believes that we should go to early city elections - we will.
He stated that he has no problem with repeating the Belgrade election.
"We think it's logical that there is a break so we can go to the elections in March, but if they insist, we have no problem doing that earlier and that will be my proposal to the SNS," said Vucic.
He stressed that this is not a question of an agreement, but that the essence is that a healthy state can only exist until the question of legitimacy is raised.
