Aerial bomb bomb with detonator was on it: Details of investigation into the drone that crashed in Croatia
The Zagreb District Prosecutor's Office held a press conference detailing the results of the investigations conducted so far related to the crash of a drone in the Croatian capital on March 10.
"On March 12, we announced that we started conducting an investigation with the competent services, which lasted until March 14. Two days later, we reported that we launched a criminal investigation and that the event was qualified as a serious crime. Due to the complexity of the procedure, the case was entrusted to the District Prosecutor's Office. The expert opinion of aviation technical professionals was requested. It was evident from the ballistics probe that this was an aerial bomb with a detonator," said the county state prosecutor Jurica Ilic.
He said that information is being presented today only about the cause of the drone crash and the damage. Investigation is still being carried out on other issues, Jutarnji reports.
The head of the Criminal Military Police Sector, Brigadier Jadranko Karlusic, said that the damage was estimated at 600,000 kunas (Croatian currency), while the investigation was conducted at four locations in Zagreb.
After the investigation, the aircraft was transported to the Croatian Army facilities, and samples were taken from the crater.
Chief Military Aviation Investigator Brigadier Mario Pocinok then reported the details regarding the drone as well as the cause of the crash, taking into account the technical inspection of its remains.
"When we talk about the investigation, this belongs to the 'complete destruction of aircraft' category. This aircraft was designed for deep reconnaissance, it has high performance in terms of flight characteristics, it moves from 900 to 1,100 kilometers per hour, I would say it flies trans-sonically. 300 to 6,000 meters is the height from which it can make recordings, while the launch time is up to 15 minutes. It is launched with the help of a special vehicle, with missile propulsion, then it takes over using the classic jet engine. 152 of them have been manufactured," he said.
