The Serbian Interior Ministry (MUP), reacting to an open letter from members of an informal group calling itself, "Russians, Ukrainians, Belarusians and Serbs together against the war," stresses that Interior Minister Aleksandar Vulin never gave an interview mentioning deportation of anyone for publicly voicing their opinion.

"We note that in accordance with the Constitution, freedom of opinion and expression is guaranteed, and therefore such allegations have no basis. We ask all media not to spread false information and unverified news that appear on social networks and thus disturb the public," the Interior Ministry said in a statement.

Members of the informal group of Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian diasporas in Serbia asked Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksanadar Vulin to confirm that Russian citizens cannot be subjected to extrajudicial deportation or extradition for words and deeds that are not punishable under Serbian law.

According to an open letter submitted to the media, the reason for the address were recent posts appearing on social networks claiming that members of the Russian diaspora in Serbia who publicly express an opinion that differs from the official position of the Russian authorities on the Ukrainian war will be deported from Serbia under urgent procedure.
