Everyone is concerned about diesel and gasoline, while the price of LPG almost doubled quietly

The price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at some gas stations in Belgrade has reached a new record of 103 dinars per liter, which broke the maximum price of 102 dinars that LPG cost in December last year.

In December, due to the energy crisis, the price of LPG broke the 100 dinars level for the first time, and returned to around 98 dinars during the same month.

The price then dropped somewhat and LPG was sold at most gas stations in Belgrade for around 92 dinars.

Since the beginning of this year, the price of LPG has continued to grow slowly, and in the last days of March it reached 102 dinars again.

According to the president of the Association for LPG, Ivan Brajovic, the increase in the price of this fuel is a consequence of the combined action of several factors, primarily the increase in the prices of natural gas and oil, as well as the Ukrainian crisis.

"This gas is created as a product of processing natural gas, gas condensate and crude oil, so its price corresponds to the prices of natural gas and crude oil, and is adjusted according to conditions in local markets. The Ukrainian crisis has led to higher prices of natural gas and crude oil up to record levels, so the price of LPG, which is created by their processing, broke all records, too," Brajovic told Tanjug last week.

The price of LPG has always been almost twice lower than that of BMB 95 gasoline, which is now sold for 175 dinars per liter.

For example, at the end of May 2020, when the market for petroleum products was disrupted due to the pandemic and lockdowns, a liter of BMB 95 cost around 123 dinars, while LPG was sold for 66 dinars.

As we reported earlier, Serbia plans to reduce the excise tax on that derivative due to environmental concerns.
