Djokovic is still on ATP throne thanks to 10 points, here is what he needs to stay there
Thanks to the fact that Daniil Medvedev did not make it to the semifinals of the Masters in Miami, Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic kept the top ranking on the ATP list this Monday as well!
Djokovic did not play on the American tour and this year has so far only competed in Dubai. He now has only 10 points more than the Russian - 8,420 compared to 8,410.
Medvedev, meanwhile, has announced that he will have a hernia surgery and miss the season on clay, not counting the French Open, which is still in question. That means that Medvedev will lose 790 points in the meantime, while Novak will have to defend 840 in the following period.
What Djokovic needs to keep the top spot on the ATP list until the French Open is to win the title at the Serbia Open, which will be played at the end of April, and to reach at least the finals at all three Masters (Monte Carlo, Madrid, Rome).
In the meantime, Alexander Zverev overtook Rafael Nadal in third position, Stefanos Tsistispas is in fifth, Matteo Berrettini in sixth, while Casper Rudd is now in 7th ahead of Andrei Rublev. Felix Auger Aliassime remained ranked 9th, while Cameron Norrie is now in 10th place, having progressed two places.
Serbia's Miomir Kecmanovic had a great tournament in Miami, which brought him a jump of 10 places and the 38th spot on the ATP list. Filip Krajinovic is right behind him in 39th, Dusan Lajovic fell by two and is now ranked as the 48th player in the world, and Laslo Djere is 55th.
