Russia will be ready to, in the future, consider other cities for negotiations with Ukraine, including Belgrade, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"The place for negotiations should be acceptable to both sides. We have held three rounds of face-to-face negotiations in Belarus, then there was a break from technical talks, it was difficult to meet directly," Lavrov said.

Now, according to him, an agreement has been reached for a meeting in Istanbul.

"It reflects a geographical point in relation to which the possibilities of both sides coincided. I repeat that we will be ready to consider other locations, including Belgrade," Lavrov said in an interview.

According to the chief of Russian diplomacy, "Belgrade with its status, as a city and a point of view, is fully suitable for any negotiations at all levels."

Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that it is unlikely that the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Turkey will begin on Monday, but that it is expected they will continue on Tuesday, March 29.
