Leskovac man thinks he saw the drone that fell in Kosovska Mitrovica: He is sure it had 3 lights
A two-meter unmanned aerial vehicle has crashed into the yard of a private house in the Bair settlement in the southern part of Kosovska Mitrovica, in Kosovo and Metohija. NATO's KFOR mission confirmed that the aircraft was theirs and that it crashed due to malfunction. Some people from Leskovac, in the southern part of central Serbia, claim that they allegedly spotted the same aircraft yesterday afternoon in the area of the villages of Manojlovce and Bratimirovce.
According to local media, the police blocked a wider area around the crash site, and at first, the drone crash was compared to the recent incident in Zagreb, Croatia.
Miroslav Grozdanovic from Leskovac claims that he followed the aircraft for several kilometers by car and that it was moving at a speed of 70 kilometers per hour.
"I was confused. I was returning from the city when it passed over me. I didn't film it. I opened the window to hear the sound because I thought it was a helicopter, but I heard nothing. I followed to watch it fly toward Mrstan and then gave up and entered Manojlovci. When I got to the center, it passed over me again. Then I continued to the bridge to look at it. I can't even estimate how big it really was. I'm sure it had three lights: two permanent ones - the ones on the ends I think were green, and a red flashing one in the middle. I can guarantee about the speed, because we traveled almost parallel for a short period of time. I went around 70 (kilometers per hour), and it was a little faster than my car," Miroslav told the portal Resetka.
According to RTS, the KFOR mission announced that the drone was theirs and that it landed in a private yard in the Mitrovica area as a result of malfunction.
The drone did not cause injuries or material damage and was removed by the police immediately after landing.
KFOR further stated that the drone was performing a routine monitoring mission in support of their activities, and that they launched an investigation to find out the cause of the incident.
"KFOR would like to thank the local population for their understanding and cooperation and for the contact with the Kosovo authorities, which enabled the drone to be taken over immediately and remove all concerns caused by the incident. KFOR has already started an investigation in order to determine the cause of this incident," they stated.
